Urad Dal Puri (Bedmi Kachori)

Ingredients:
1/4 cup Urad dal
1 cup whole wheat flour (atta)
1 tsp fennel seed powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1/8 tsp asafetida (hing)
1/4 tsp dry ginger powder
1/2 tsp red chili flakes
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp oil
Oil to fry

Method:
Wash and soak urad dal overnight or for 4-5 hrs. Drain the water & blend the dal with little water into a  paste (not too water but not too thick as well).

In another bowl mix rest of the ingredients to the flour and mix well to make it into a dough.

The dough will be really sticky so make sure you use right amount of oil and also knead the dough with luke warm water. After you make the dough keep it aside for 15-20 mins.
Oil your palm nicely and break the dough into small round pieces.

Roll this into a 6 inch circle with the help of a rolling pin. You can roll 2-3 puris before you start to fry (i do it that way it helps..:P)

Heat the in a frying pan over medium heat, before putting a puri make sure the oil is hot enough by placing a small ball of flour into the oil. When it''s hot place the puri in the frying pan and press it so that the puri puffs up..:)

Turn puri over and cook it till its light golden brown from both sides.

Take the puriout and place it on a paper towel so that it soaks the extra oil. Serve when hot and crisp with any vegetable you want (best goes with tangy potatoes will put the recipe soon) or you can enjoy it with Plain Yogurt (add a little salt and black pepper for better taste) Njoiiii..:)
